Show Scott Nelson and Michaela Buckley Win Titles As Tooele Dominates Diving Tooele completely dominated the Region Seven diving championships Wednesday, with Scott Nelson and Michaela Buckley capturing the champion- ships, R. D. England and Kristine Kecle finishing second, Susan Vian third in drls competition and Jaramillo finishing Ro-lie- rt fouth among the boy divers. Nelson, England. Buckley and Keele automatically qualify for the state championships which will lie held at BYU Friday and Saturday of next week, while, Vian and jaramillo will enter the dive offs which will lie held at South High Tuesday. Both are expected to lie shoo-into adv ance to state. g Nelson had the crowd and ahing' with every dive as he flashed his way to the championship with an amazing score of 479.55 points, which establishes a new Region record that s oo-in- could stand for years. Averaging better than 30 points per dive Miss Buckley gave a beautiful display of precision diving to capture the crown. championship. Miss Buckley was in complete cont ml of the women's diving successfully defending the title she won a year ago. Stiffest competition for Miss Buckley came from her team mates, Kristine Keele and Susan Vian who finished second and third, giving the lady Buffs a sweep in the diving competition. Never Better Nelson was never in better form averaging better than 43 points per dive. His final score of 479.55 was nearly 100 points better than the score posted by Rex Griffiths when he captured the state championship a year ago.
