Kearns, already established as a with Tooele for the title, has won one league game and are lying in wait for the Huffs. GETTING A late start, Too-- . will. Goach Gary Gardner, in his second year as laws cage coach is optimistic alioiit his chances of making it to the state tonm'-methis coming March. Gardner has two chances to make the It nt Glass - classic Tooele will conqiete with Kearns Bingham, A- Cyprus and Granger and the two top quintets make it to the tourney. Gardner figures he has the horses to cop the title and that's his prime objective. However should he fail to win the championship he can still take his team to the tournament by finishing Of course four other teams have the same objective and from here it appears to lie a dog eat dog race. We think that a team that can win two on the road plus four home games second. will lie in like FIvnn. ON PAPER Tooele has it all with the exception of speed and quickness. In these areas the Buffs seem to lie a bit short. Senior Phil Be van is Tooele's fastest, closely followed by Doug Ilyinas and Jess Dare, Ixith seniors. In the height department, the Buffs are more than adequately represented by senior Doug Tate and junior Scott McBeth who stretch up from the floor 6' 64 and 6' 54". And Gardner has seven more footers in Allen Smart, 6' 3"; Ron Kydalch 6" 34", ilvnias, 6'; Dare 6'2"; Ken Proctor 6; Bevan 6', and Randy Rose six foot even. lTp to now Tooeles most prolific scorers have lieen Tate anil McBeth, but they get lots of help from Ilyinas, Dare, Proctor, Bevan and Rydalch. These lietter-than-si- x hustle. Gardner figures when they start playing for keeps, they'll lie more determined. Experience - wise, the Buff roster has five seniors in Tate, Ilyinas, Dare, Proctor and Bevan. Five juniors. Smart, Rydalch, McBeth, Bill Hogan and Mike Smith, phis two sophomores Rick Ausick and Rose round out the squad. practice games Gardner has stuck pretty much with Tate, McBeth and Ilyinas as definite starters and then at different times has also started Dare, Proctor, Ausick, Rydalch and Bevan. Smart usually gets in early and sees lots of action. That gives Gardner nine cagers to call on for regular duty, with Hogan, Ill Smith and Rose as back-up- New Year' Welcome . . . L. to R Mrs. George W. Diehl and Mr. Diehl are welcomed at New Years Open House at TAD by Col. and Mrs. Bexerly F. O Neal, Jr. FOR THE opener against Kearns, Tooele's fiery and enthusiastic coach will probably start Tate, McBeth, Ilyinas, Rydalch and Ausick, a quintet that will average close to 6'3". With Tate, McBeth and Rydalch winking the I nurds, Tate, McBeth and Ilvnias carrying the scoring load, and Ausick and Ilyinas directing the floor play the Buffs will present a formidable barrier for Kearns. And Tooele gets even tougher when players like Proctor, Dare, Bevan and Smart anxiously waiting for their turn, which is sure to come. Hopes are high on the Tooele campus and for good reason the Buffs apiicar to lie loaded. They'll get a good test Friday, 'cause Kearns is liuded too, and already one game up on the Buffs. The number of bad decisions made in the world is far outweighed by the numlrer of decisions which never get made at all, writes Dr. George S. After goals have lieen identified and the situation clarified, tools and analytical instruments can be of great help in making decisions, says the Utah author. The basic ideas behind computers and higher mathematics employed by systems experts are not beyond the scope of the average person, he suggests, and can be applied to the problems of ordinary business and personal To make the best decisions, the business educator says it is advisable to develop several options and choose among them, rather than fastening emotionally to a single one too soon. It is at this point choosing among that many people get options hung up, writes Dr. Odiome, mainly because they havent clarified their objectives to begin With. If you have your objectives tightly defined, they help screen the options and you can pick the one which carries you farthest fastest.
