At a luncheon of the Mining and Exploration Division of the society in February, he will be given the Daniel C. Jackling award. This will occur during the 92nd annual meeting of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers In Dallas. The Jackling Award recognizes "significant contributions to technical progress in the fields of mining, geology and geophysics." Bowman will give the annual Jackling lecture. Banner Mining Co. began operations in New Mexico in 1935. Today it mines copper in an underground operation in the Twin Buttes district southwest of Tucson. It developed a new metallurgical approach to recover the contained copper. Bowman was bom in Ogden, Utah, and studied mining engineering at the University of Utah. He worked for Eureka Standard Mining Co. in Utah and then for the U. S.
