While there is some debate over its origin, mo.--t food historians agree the served a ground burger officially debuted at the St. Ixjuis Worlds Fair in 1901. Fletcher Davis a.k.a. Chipotle Pepper Sauce, divided 1 tsp. salt 12 cup mayonnaise 6 hamburger buns 6 slices red onion 6 slices tomato 6 lettuce leaves 2 ripe avocados; pitted, pi '.led and sliced Combine ground beef, 2 tablespoons Chipotle Pepper Sauce and salt in a large bowl and mix well; shape into 6 patties. Combine mayonnaise with remaining 1 tablespoon Chipotle Pepper Sauce and mix well; set aside. Grill or broil hamburger patties to medium doneness (160F). Spread mayonnaise on buns and top with burgers, onion, tomato, lettuce and avocado slices. Note: For Cheeseburgers, place one slice Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese on each burger (after cooked to desired doneness), just until cheese melts. Chipotle-Avocad- C o Mushroom Burgers Open-Face- d Ivan Makarov and Rebecca Hansen pound fresh white mushrooms 1 pound ground beef 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided 1 medium onion, sliced 14 teaspoon each salt and ground black pepper 4 slices crusty bread, toasted Chop enough mushrooms to measure 1 12 cups; slice remaining mushrooms. In a bowl, combine ground beef, chopped mushrooms and mustard; gently form into 4 burgers. In a large heavy skillet, over medium heat, heat half of the oil. Add sliced mushrooms and onion; cook and stir just until tender, 5 to 6 minutes. Remove to a bowl along with juices. In the same skillet, heat remaining oil. Add burgers; cook until browned and cooked through. 4 to 5 minutes on each side; remove to a plate; keep warm. Pour off excess fat; return mushroom-oniomixture to skillet; add salt and pepper. Cook and stir until hot. Arrange each burger on a toasted bread slice with a lettuce leaf and tomato, slice, if desired. Spoon mushroom-oniomixture onto burgers. Rebecca is a graduate of North Sanpete High School, Snow College and recently received a B.S. Degree in Sociology from BYU. She is also a graduate of North Sanpete Seminary and Snow College Institute. Ivan attended schools in Moscow and was a graduate of the first LDS Seminary held in Moscow. He attended several years at Moscow State University before serving as a missionary in the England Manchester Mission. He then transferred to BYU where he is pursuing a degree in accounting. The couple plan to make their home in Provo where they will work and continue their education.
