The Nephi Public Library reopened on June 16, after a two week finishing touch-upI went that first day and wow! I think they did a fantastic job. To me, the old library felt small and cluttered. I kind of had a claustrophobic feeling (the 6ame feeling my Mom gets when she goes to Wal-Marwith the bookcases so close. Now they are spaced apart from each other. And ". Thorns Garcilazo will be one of the featured acts of the 70th annual Ute Stampede Rodeo on July 15, 16 and 17 at the Juab County Fairgrounds in Nephi. Charros are professional cowboys who take extreme pride in their riding and roping abilities. They create a whole culture around the equestrian lifestyles. Whoever thought of giving them their own room was a genius. Emily thought that was so neat. I havent used the computer lab, but iteems to be working well being enclosed. I havent heard of anybody secretly accessing porn sites. (I know, they probably have filtered Internet.) All in all, the library has received a very nice transformation, and I hope patrons will remember to treat it with kindness, reverence and love. Grass. . . a mans best friend When we bought our house here in Nephi almost three years ago we knew we would eventually have to landscape the yards. We lived with mud for two of the three, and this year we finaly planted grass in the front. We went the cheaper route and seeded by hand. My hubby went out and inspected the dirt for a week. When little shoots of grass came through hed go out and pet it like it was a beloved dog, encouraging it to grow. He watered it, fed it fertilizer, and bedded it down with peat moss. It started to grow, and we admired it everyday. When it got old enough, we went out and played on it. When it got too bushy, hubby gave it a haircut. He also spent many a night picking weeds out of it like he was picking ticks off a dog, separating the good blade to get to the evilness underneath. Hmmm. . .1 think hubby needs a dog. Maybe a Shitzu, or a Yorkie, something small that will play nicely with the front yard. Smell of Stampede in the air Wednesday Partly cloudy. Highs around 90. r"" Every year, around the Fourth of July, I can start smelling Ute Stampede in the air. Yes, part of it is the smell of manure coming from the fairgrounds, but there is another smell. The smell of anticipation. The flags and manners go up, the streets get cleaned, tickets go on sale, the fairgrounds get purdied up, and people start talking about which night they will attend the rodeo. Its like the ead-uto Christmas. (Oo, oo, Christmas is coming!) So get out there and buy your tickets, wrastle up a pair of Wranglers and boots, and get ready for the Ute Stampede, Wednesday Night Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 50s. Thursday Partly cloudy.
