The first fruit to ripen domestically in spring, this readily available berry is grown in every state throughout the country. You can enjoy those scrumptious berries long after the harvest is gone. Strawberries n Cream Pizza 1 12 cups flour 12 cup butter or margarine, cold and sliced 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts toffee bits 3 1.4-opackets chocolate-covere1 softened cream cheese, package 1 cup powdered sugar 1 qt. fresh strawberries, hulled and halved lengthwise Reddi-wireal whipped cream Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In large bowl, combine flour, butter and nuts; mix until blended. Press mixture on bottom of pizza plate or pan. Bake 10 minutes. Immediately sprinkle hot crust with 2 packets of toffee bits, distributing evenly over crust. Set aside to cool. Combine cream cheese and powdered sugar; beat until blended and smooth. Spread evenly over cooled crust to within 12 inch of crust edge. Arrange strawberries, cut side down, in circular rows over cheese mixture. Decorate top of pizza with Reddi-wireal whipped cream in a spiral design, starting at center and ending at crust edges. Sprinkle remaining toffee bits over top. Serves Fresh Strawberry Pie Crust: refrigerated sugar cookie dough Filling: 2 cups fresh, very ripe strawberries, mashed 3 Tbsp. cornstarch 1 cup granulated sugar 2 cups whole ripe strawberries Reddi-wireal whipped cream Freeze sugar cookie dough until very firm but not frozen, approximately 2 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Slice dough thin, and cover bottom and 1 inch up sides of a minutes, springform pan. Bake until brown. Cool and place on serving plate. In a heavy pan, mix sugar and cornstarch; add mashed strawberries and cook slowly for about 10 minutes, until thick. Cool slightly and add whole berries. Pour into cookie crust. Chill. Decorate with Reddi-wireal whipped cream when ready to serve. Serves 6. Jam Strawberry-Kiw- i 3 cups crushed strawberries 3 kiwis, peeled and diced 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 tablespoon minced crystallized ginger 1 pkg. Fruit Jell powdered pectin 5 cups sugar Prepare home canning jars and lids according to manufacturers instructions. Combine strawberries, kiwi, lemon juice, ginger and pectin in a large saucepot. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring frequently. Add sugar and return to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Boil hard for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Skim foam. Ladle hot jam into hot jars, leaving headspace. canner. Yield: about 6 Wipe jar rim clean. Adjust caps. Combine 4 cups juice and sugar in a large saucepot. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Add pectin and return to a rolling boil. Boil hard for 1 minute; remove from heat. Skim foam if necessary. Ladle hot jelly into hot, sterilized jars, leaving headspace. Wipe jar rim clean. Adjust caps. . Process 5 minutes in a boiling-wate- r canner. Kirgan celebrated her 95th birthday on July 26 with her family at a family dinner, hosted by George and Marilyn Kendall, daughter, and 30 family members. She was born in Nephi and married DeLyle Morgan, May 14th, 1929. She lived her married life in Levan. After DeLyle passed away she married Clinton Kirgan and has since lived in Nephi. He passed away several years ago. She is the grandmother of five children, great grand- mother of 16 12 children and to 2 children. FIRST BIRTHDAY Happy Birthday to Reese Matthew Barnes.
