Shirl Nichols brought three such properties to the commission and requested they accept changes on three such properties. 1 will be happy to look at anyones home or property if they think the values have been set too high, said Nichols. He told commissioners that many people had not followed through on the state appeals process but some had and a few of those had received consideration. On these three parcels, the value of properties need to be changed, said Nichols. The first belonged to William Allagood who wants to build a home on a triangular piece of property in the general neighborhood of 270 North and 900 East. The property is in the flood zone area and the dty will only allow construction of the southeast half ofthe property which makes the rest ofthe property unusable as a building site and means it will just stay a big garden, said clerk-treasure- r. The market value needs to be adjusted. They will need a building permit in the future and, at that time, I will go back and reappraise the home. The third property belonged to Sharon and Mary Ann Seamons, Eureka. Tt was built in 1896, said Nichols. The home does not have central heating ahd has an approximate life of 50 more years unless some renovations are done. The state man who did the valuation considered it rental property and so he based the valuation on the amount of rent being paid, said Joseph Bernini, commissioner, who lives in Eureka. The fellow figured the house should be worth the rent being paid."
