The analysis would cover all the National Forest System Administered Lands in Carbon, Emery, Sanpete, Sevier, and Utah Counties within the Manti Sal Division of the Manti-L- a GOLD CUP Lynley Peterson received her 30 point gold cup April 19 in Ephraim. The award is given by the Central Utah Music Teachers Association to students who have accumulated at least 15 points through participation in the annual Junior Pi- MUSIC FESTIVAL The students of Terry Menlove recently participated in the Central Utah Music Festival held at Snow College on March 28th. Students placed as follows: Brittney Nielsen, Superior; Talisha Olsen, Superior; Franziska Strohner, Superior; Amberlee Lynn, Superior; Jade Ellison, Superior; Erin Evans, Superior; Megan Bastion', Superior; Jessica Ferguson, Superior; Janelle Bastion, Superior; Scott Evans, Superior; Kevin Packer, Superior; and Nathan Bastion, Superior. Not pictured: Andrea Menlove, Excellent; and Chandler Walpole, Excellent. National Forest and the Division of the Uintah San-pitc- h Na- tional Forest. The analysis will identify the use of prescribed natural fires to accomplish the stated objective. This analysis will become part of an overall fire plan for the Manti Division. The Manti-L- a Sal National Forest is proposing to implement a Fire Management Plan for the Manti Division of the Forest by the Summer of 1999. The Plan has the following three components: 1. J Considerable opportunity ex- ists to use fire to reduce the amounts of natural fuel and toj improve conditions of various , 4 " - plant communities. Selectedj plant communities would bej burned using prescribed fire over; several years in coordination with other resource uses. Some; natural fires would be allowed to burn to accomplish the same objectives as long as they were within clearly defined limits. The purpose and need of this analysis is to develop an implementation plan for the use of naturally occurring wildland fire to meet natural resource management objectives. We are inviting the public to give us comments regarding the proposed project. Your specific comments on the potentially effected resources or site location will help the Forest Service focus on the issues relating to the project. Please submit your comments by May 20, 1998.
