Welch has two important reminders for general season bull elk hunters heading afield this year: Hunters with general season spike bull permits may hunt in a general season spike bull unit only. They may not hunt in an any bull unit or a limited entry to kill an elk in a unit without a valid permit. Hunters can learn which units are any bull units, and which are spike bull only units, by referring to the Bull Elk Hunt Boundaries map in the 1996 Big Game Proclamation and Hunting Guide, and the boundary descriptions on pages Hunters also are encouraged to read pages 8 of the proclamation, which list limited entry bull elk units, and to learn the unit boundaries by referring to pages unit.
