Following a public hearing held by the county commission to gain public input on whether the hospitals organization should purchase the facility, the James Painter family offered the corporation land, if they should elect to build a new facility. In a recent inspection, a list of deficiencies were found by the state inspection team that have to do with the physical plant of the hospital. Those repairs would come to approximately $523,600 if done to minimum standards, said Mark Stoddard, hospital administrator. Most of the repairs have to do with new standards, some of them the new ADA standards all public buildings must meet this year. For example, all latches on doors must be replaced at a cost non-prof- it 30-fe- et of $2,200. Restroom walls must be expanded in the physical therapy area to meet disability requirements at a cost of $7,000. Some changes have been made in standards over just the last few years, since the hospital was last remodeled. Now there must be a larger concrete pad to accommodate oxygen tanks at an estimated cost of $1,150. We have not included that change in the estimate of costs, said Stoddard. The sprinkler system in the old clinic will cost $19,240 to bring to the new standard. This item is also not included in the bill.
