He said Fillmore reported that a 50 percent cut in the green fee meant the golfer would usually use the money saved to rent a cart. In the long run, in addition to stimulating play, the course did not lose much money. It sounds like a good plan to me, said Milt Harmon, city council member. The plan would encourage some who did not usually play at the course to try it out. It should attract those who dont come, said McKnight. Fillmore has also placed coupons in local motels to encourage players. This is one way to try to increase the play during the fall months, said McKnight. A final plan for the landfill has not been drafted but work to come to agreement between Juab County, Nephi, Levan and Mona continues. We anticipate Nephi will have to charge a fee and then allow the other entities to use the city landfill until we reach an agreement, said Randy McKnight, city administrator. The work has been done by Sunrise Engineering, Richfield. In their opinion, this is a final draft, said Randy McKnight, city administrator. The council will review the plan on an individual basis. We can hold a work session where everyone will walk through the plan, said McKnight. After the line by line reading is completed by the city, with recommendations for changes, if any, the council will then adopt the final plan. Golfers at surrounding colleges and junior colleges will be offered a coupon to allow a discount for playing at the Nephi Canyon Hills Golf Course. The plan should be ready to be presented to the public on October 10, said Randy McKnight, city administrator. At 7:30 p.m., the public will have a chance to meet at city hall to discuss the plan. The council will have an opportunity to discuss the plan and to development it further at a work meeting held on the second Tuesday of October, said McKnight. A federal draft was used to help develop the city general plan for the airport, he said. William Jeffs was approved for hiring at the city golf course by the city council on Tuesday. A letter will be sent by city attorney, David Leavitt, to the state to inform them that the minimum requirements for. the justice court have been met. We must recertify, by state law, every four years, said Leavitt. The application for the recertification needed to be completed and sent to the state by October 2, 1995, he said. The court certification expires on February 5, 1996, unless the court is recertified, he said. The council accepted and adopted the letter written by Leavitt certifying the court was meeting the standards set forth for having a court in the city. Some of those requirements are that the city provide a courtroom, that the court must be open on a business day, and that the court location and times are posted. bLfc Ki. cierk quirements. Victims of lung disease range from those who feel a little discomfort breathing and have minor difficulty during physical exertion to those who suffer extreme oxygen deprivation and can barely breathe or move at all. University Hospital provides the full range of comprehensive lung treatment: rehabilitation, lung volume reduction for emphysema patients, and transplant for those whose lungs are so diseased that they cannot be made to work again. We have done nine lung transplants since we began our program less than two years ago, including five this year, said S.V. Karwande, M.D., associate professor and chief of cardiothorac-i- c surgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Seven of the nine patients have returned to health. In patients where disease has destroyed the lungs, a transplant is the procedure of last resort. But replacing a lung or both lungs with donated organs is just one option, depending on the extent and type of disease, according to James Stringham, M.D., assistant professor and a mem-- , ber of the Universitys cardiotho-raci- c surgery team. In others, particularly sufferers of emphysema, where the and against the lungs hyper-ex- p chest wall and diaphragm, surgical reduction of the size of the lungs allows the chest wall muscles and diaphragm to work better, and provides for more efficient function of existing lung tissue, said Dr. Stringham.
