TO THE CITIZENS OF NEPHI AND THE EMPLOYEES OF NEPHI RUBBER PRODUCTS There is a rumor being maliciously spread that a group of citizens is trying to dose down Nephi Rubber Products. This is not true. Several years ago an inddent occurred at NRP that violated EPA regulations. As a result of this violation, offidals from the EPA and NRP met to work on a solution. They dedded to work together on a program to help NRP reduce the amount of hazardous waste they produce. This process was open to public comment, so the Citizens for Appropriate Hazardous Waste Placement (CAHWP of Nephi) drafted and submitted some ideas. This one and a half page document, in summary, states that we support NRP in these efforts and would like to participate in any decisions that are made. Rumor has it that CAHWP is filing an injunction to shut NRP down. The truth is that CAHWP only requested a public meeting (hearing) with a state agency to discuss waste minimization. Citizens for Appropriate Hazardous Waste Placement consists of people who are concerned with the quality of life in Nephi. We want to have a supportive relationship with local businesses and do what we can to make our community an attractive and safe place to live. Citizens for Appropriate Hazardous Waste Placement |
