Phil Baker, superintendent of parks and recreation, has entered the town in the Tidy Town contest this year. He said judges for the award will be in town on Friday. "They are expected to arrive at 8:30 a.m.,". he said. Several homes will be show cased. They have been nominated by the city for special awards, he said. The judges will travel through the town on Friday and city officials are hoping the town will appeal to the judges. Funding which comes as a result of winning entries can assist the city in building parks and other projects. The contest takes place every two years for rural towns. Next year will be the contest for uiban cities. Baker said people should walk around their properties and try to get rid of garbage, piles of refuse and weeds which have grown over the summer and are scraggly and unsightly. No piles of garbage should be piled at street side. |
