Carver, a former resident of Nephi, will celebrate his 80th birthday at an open house to be held Saturday, Sept. Homer 17. Carver was born Sept. 20, 1908 in Nephi to James William and Sophia Mae Pitchforth Carver. He graduated from Nephi High School in 1927 and married Mary Barentsen of Fountain Green Nov. 5, 1930. They had three children, Gary Homer Carver, James Andrew Carver, and Mary Diane Carver King. Carver was a He worked at several occupations in Nephi, including hanging wall paper, repairing, bicycles, and doing carpentry work. He also owned a service station and a drive inn. The family lived in Nephi until 1955, when they moved to Provo, where Carter worked as a carpenter and then with the BYU auxiliary maintenance department. He retired in 1973. Mary Barentsen Carver died of cancer in 1962. Carver then s. married Edith Muhlestein Snow. She died after heart surgery in February of 1977.
