Show UTAH PRESS High waters threaten bridge, close landfill, cause trouble High water in Salt Creek has been giving Nephi City, Juab County, and Utah State crews headaches this week. The abnormally high water level has caused one minor bridge to be removed, has threatened to wash out a main bridge over State Road 132, and has forced the closure of the road to the Nephi City landfill. A minor wooden bridge across Salt Creek just south of the Canyon Hills Golf Course started to collapse late Sunday night as the water washed away part of its footings. If the bridge had completely washed out, it would have plugged the channel, and so Nephi City crews removed it. In the past, the bridge connected State Road 132 to a small access road into Nephi, but since the freeway has cut the access road, the only use the bridge had was to give access to the south side of the golf course. The main entrance to the golf course was not affected by the removal of the bridge, according to Randy McKnight, Nephi City manager. The other bridge threatened by the water is very important. It carries State Road 132 over Salt Creek near the KOA campground. Getting to the craft, however, was another story. The terrain was muddy, and several vehicles became stuck trying to get to the plane, says Sheriff Carter. At about 6 a.m., the Civil Air Patrol spotted the plane, and roads into the area were checked. 0 Shortly thereafter, a helicopter from a Salt Lake City television station arrived on the scene, and in addition to helping the ground units make their way in, left Sheriff Carter and Deputy Chris Neilsen at the m tp A ' m Ute Stampede rodeo tickets on sale first-com- e, d Sleepy drivers cause accidents near Mona Sunday Things must have been awfulnorth of Mona Sunday, because two drivers went to sleep on the stretch of road and wrecked their cars.
