Sterling Christianson, who heads Utah Highway Patrol troopers in the area. In 1982, there were no deaths on the stretch of road. It was probably the first year in at least 30 years that such has occurred, Christianson said. The sergeant says the reduction in death is the result of excellent law enforcement. In 1977, there were 34 traffic They doubled the enforcement, and our job was to slow the people down and get on drunk drivers, Christianson said. This is the big reason for the increase in enforcement. Weve had a steady decline since 1977 on fatals, to where weve had 21 fatals in four years. Juab County officers led the state last year in per capita drunk driver arrests, Christianson said. Drunken drivers 150 drunken drivers were picked up by other agencies in the area, Christianson estimated. In addition, UHP troopers issued 11,000 other citations in the county during 1982. Christiansen also thanks other law enforcement agencies in the area for helping to cut down on traffic deaths. We had real close cooperation with Nephi City and Juab County officers, Christianson said. Serving East Juab County A Nice Place to Live!
