"The impact of the Have you ever noticed how quickly the time passes, this time of the year? It seems as though these four months become compressed, as the weather gets nippy and our pace quickens just where does the time go? We get the youngsters back into school and before you know what hit you it's already time to bake some caks and cookies for the Halloween Carnival. Then, before some of the children have a change to polish off their trick or treat candy, its time to sit down to our Thanksgiving feast. Ah, turkey, stuffing, cranberries, yams and pumpkin pie yum yum and there goes the diet. But the gathering of family and friends makes this time of the year very special. But the pace continues to quicken and by the time we decide that we can no longer pace (or stomach) another night of turkey leftovers (have you ever tried turkey tacos?), the Christmas Holidays have arrived. Sometimes it seems as though the Holidays all run into; and actually overlap, each other. With scarsely a chance to recover we simply move on. Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet? Well, dont look now but there are only three weeks left. Where does the time go? To make things worse, we can always count on our children to act as unofficial time keepers, or calenders'. To them the days seem to drag by, and they keep reminding us about how they can "hardly wait fori Christmas. Remember when you used to count down the days and these four short months seemed more like six or seven? Oh, where does the time go? One was a time when "we looked forward to the Holidays with eager anticipation. Isnt it wonderful thafcthe children, year after year, hang onto and continue that same feeling and tradition? However, as we get older and our perspective changes, we look forward to the Holidays with a touch of frantic anticipation and a slight case of frazzled nerves and sore feet (Christmas shopping will do that to you). Then when Chistmas is over, the pace suddenly changes. Something like climbing a mountain and reaching the top. Or maybe a little more like running down an alley and hitting a brick wall at the end. The we look back at how quickly the Holiday Season passed, but alas, where DOES the time go? -- mcg- Main Street has some new decorations mounted on the light posts.
