Archeologists, explorers, and geographers rely on it. So do foresters, ge- ologists, traffic experts, real estate men, and soil-erosio- n specialists. Military intelligence would be lost without it. Archeologists take to the air to photograph the evi- countryside, seeking dence of ancient ruins in patterns invisible from the ground. Cartographers make overlapping aerial pictures of the terrain. These are fed into an optical device which produces a stereo image.
