To be eligible to join the association, those interested must be willing to learn about the game of golf. They do not necessarily have to have their own Cal- ifornia. McPherson was born at Nephi on September 23, 1900, to John W. and Mary Jane McPherson. He is survived by a daughter, Mary Jane Harp of Pleasanton, California; and a stepson, Lyle. Also surviving are one granddaughter, three sisters and a brother; Hannah Vogt and Mrs. Owen (Ruth) Johnson, both of Mrs. Fonda Tolley, Boise, Idaho; and Ned McPherson, Pocatello, Idaho. It later became Jacks clothing store and is now Nielsons Department Store. J. W. Olpin, father of Irene O. Howard of Nephi was the manager of Nephi Mercantile Company for many years and James Garrett was the assistant manager. Walter J. Olpin, now residing in Salt Lake City, was a clerk at the store as a young man and recalls that the store used the script at the time he left for an LDS mission in 1913, but had discontinued its use when he returned in 1916. Other members of the Olpin family who worked at the store were Eva O. Pyper, Clyde Olpin, Ellen O. Jarrett and Irene O. Howard. Others who worked at the store for a long period of time were Neva Booth (an aunt of Frank H. . Booth) and Kate Worthington (mother of Erma W. Greenhalgh). It is thought that per- - haps another early day business in Nephi Charles Foote & Sons also used script for the same reasons as did Nephi Mercantile Co. Funeral services held Saturday for Mary G. Wood Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City on Saturday for Mary Lee Gustin Wood, 66, a former resident of Nephi, who died at her home in Salt Lake City after a long illness. She was born on July 18, 1911 at Nephi, a daughter of Lester and Marie Allen Gustin. She married James K. Wood Jr. in 1950 at Reno, Nevada and has been active in Post 1546 of the VFW auxiliary and in REACT. Survivors are her husband, Salt Lake City; and her brothers and sisters: Frank, Salt Lake City; Jack Nephi; Donald, Reno; and Mrs. James (Dora) Smoth-son- . Milford.
