Better yet, it's possible to reduce the family's total heating and cooling costs by up to 45 percent, Miss Poffenroth says. Nephi news Mrs. Lavon Ellertson was in Bountiful on Saturday evening to attend a birthday party honoring Mrs. Shirlene Johnson. Twelve guests were present. Suggestions for have been developed by University of Kentucky agricultural engineers. They say that since most of the heat lost in a house is lost through the roof, persons interested in insulating their homes should start at this place first. If the attic is not floored, insulate the attic floor between the joists with batt or loose-fil- l mineral wool, glass fiber, or cellulose insulation to a depth of at least six inches, If the attic is floored, staple blanket or batt insulation between the rafters. Either way, it is possible to cut home heating costs the insulation work, to "overlap edges of insulation for a snug fit all over so that warm air won't have a place to leak out. Pretend any hole is the stopxr pulled out of a bathtub full of water, and you'll get the picture of how warm air escaH.s. says Miss Poffenroth. "11 the vapor barrier (always placed towards the inside of the house) gets nicked or torn, patch it w ith tape." she says. According to Miss Polfenroth, other points to consider when in sulatinga home are these: Carefully caulk and w eatherstrip doors and windows. This In doing it is wise COUNT Y0UR BLESSINGS WHh.
