I SOLD THEM, AND HERE IS THE MONEY! Funeral services were conducted in Salt Lake City Monday for Charles H. Foote, 70, a former resident of Nephi. Mr. Foote died at his home in Salt Lake City Thursday following a short illness. Graveside services were also conducted at the Vine Bluff cemetery in Nephi on Monday afternoon. Prior to moving to Salt Lake City in 1953, Mr. Foote operated the Venice Cafe, and had been associated in Charles Foote and Sons Co. He also held an interest in the Venice Theatre Company. In 1952, he was appointed by Governor J. Bracken Lee as a member of the Utah Liquor Control Commission, and served until 1956. In 1959 he was named administrative assistant to Mr. Lee, Mayor of Salt Lake City, and also served as budget director for the Public Affairs and Finance Departments. He was an active member of the Republican Party. Born on September 7, 1904 at Nephi, he was a son of Harry and Mae Wright Foote. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, two and two sisters : Mrs. Marvin (Margaret) Geese, California; and Mrs. Marjorie Sowers, Costa Mesa, Bicentennial grant to improve Levan City Park, monument Levan Town has received a grant of three thousand dollars from the Utah American Revolution Bicentennial it was announced today by Ron Heaton, chairman of the Juab County Bicentennial Committee. The grant funds will be used along with money from Levan Town and Levan civic and church organizations to improve facilities at Levans city park. The Chicken Creek Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers has already completed and dedicated a memorial monument in the park to the signing of a peace treaty by Indian chief Walker and Brigham Young an event that happened near Levan. The Levan City Park will be renamed the Chief Walker Memorial Park, and a picnic shelter like the one at Nephis park will be built. A little league baseball diamond will also be added to the park. The total cost of the project is estimated at $10,250. The planning of the project was done by the Levan Bicentennial Committee headed by Vern Mangelson and Levans mayor, Farrell Wankier. Loren Pomery will present a program of classical guitar music at the concert, scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. Accordint to the concert organizers, Pomery is one of the most competent guitarists in the intermountain area. He has studied guitar in Paris and in Florence, Italy and is currently teaching guitar at Brigham Young University. The Highway Department, teamed up with the Highway Patrol, is offering a new service this winter recorded road condition information by telephone. The new system is designed to save Utah motorists a lot of inconvenience and trouble. They always told us that being forewarned is being forearmed for any eventuality. Back to the new system, dubbed The Audichron. The system can play recorded messages up to 56 seconds in length to some 6,000 callers an hour, and has the ability to answer as many as 28 calls at the same time. Reports are gathered from distant dispatchers who have radio contact with snowplow and road crews in their areas. At night and on weekends, the road condition information will be obtained from Higway Patrol weigh stations and radio dispatchers. In particuarly bad weather, other sources of information will also be used. The report staff will pay particular attention to mountain passes, major highways and roads to recreational reas. Reports will be updated as fast as conditions change during storms, and at periodic intervals during good weather. Young, director of the department. The clinic will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, and everyone over 40 years of age should come to the clinic to be tested, according to Dr. Young. There will be no charge for the service, he said. Officers from the Utah State Department of Wildlife Resources will hold a public hearing on the proposed increase of state hunting and fishing license fees at a meeting to be held on Thursday, December 19 in the Juab County Courthouse. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the court room. Immunizations are given Thursdays Officials of the Central Utah Health Department have announced that the Juab County Public Health Nurse will be in her office every Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. to give immunizations. Bill properly sponsored by the Times-New- s identified Mrs. Claude R. (Evelyn) Lomax as the Personality, and properly identified the 14 clues. Mrs. Arlene Lambard, manager of Lambards Wards Agency, one of the participating merchants in the contest, drew the winning entry. In the first weeks contest, 266 entries were received in the several boxes located at Greenwoods, Allens Food Fair, Christensens, Nephi Drug Co., Chapman Furniture, and Lambards Wards Agency. A quick check through the entries shows that the Mystery Personality was in fact not a mystery that she is indeed very well known. No one, as far as could be determined, failed to identify Mrs. Lomax, but in the couple of dozen slips checked, several did not have the correct number of clues. As the contest progresses, a greater effort will be made to hide the clues in the advertisements of the participating merchants to make the contest more challenging and more interesting to all. The dates for the 1975 Ute Stampede were set for July 10, 11, and 12. Forest Service closes Salt Creek road The Salt Creek Canyon road above the Forest Service boundary line will be closed beginning tomorrow to all motor vehicles machines, according except to a news release from the Provo Office of the U. S. Forest Service, Uinta National Forest. The closure will help prevent excessive damage which occurs when roads are used during wet and muddy conditions. It will also help to coordinate public safety in snowmobiling use and other winter activities, according to Bruce B. Hronek, Forest supervisor. Other areas within the Uinta National Forest that will be closed to motor vehicles include American Fork Canyon at Tibbie Fork and Mutual Dell, Alpine Scenic Highway at Aspen Grove, Hobble Creek above Cherry Picnic Site, Diamond Creek above Diamond Campground, Payson Canyon above Maple Dell, and Santaquin Canyon at the Forest boundary. over-the-sno- Relief Society to hold Leadership The monthly leadership meeting of the Nephi Utah Stake Relief Society will be held this Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the stake house, it was announced recently by Relief Society officials. All Ward and Stake Relief Society presidencies, teachers, and officers are to be in attendance at the meeting. Elder Paul H. Dunn of the First Council of Seventy, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints, will speak at a special youth fireside this Saturday, December 14 at 7 p.m. in the Nephi Utah Stake center. Elder Dunn will speak on the importance of obeying Gods commandments concerning morals. All single young people of the stake, 14 years of age and over, are urged by stake authorities to attend. Season tickets now on sale at Juab High Season basketball tickets are now on sale at Juab High School, according to a release received from the school by the Times-New- s. The season ticket package provides admission to six league games: with Manti, Emery, Richfield, North Sanpete, North Sevier, and Wayne high schools; and a practice game with Millard high school. The seasons first league game is scheduled for Friday, December 13 against North Sanpete high school at Mt. Pleasant. The first league game to be played at home is December 18 against Manti high school.
