Show Nephi News Bird says shot is more bother than worth Although the incidence of Rocky Mountain Spotted fever has decreased to nearly zero in the last few years, we are getting more and more.requests from area residents for immunization against the disease, according to Dr. Edward Bird, director of the District Health Department. Dr. Bird says that although there is a vaccine which can be used against the disease, it does not prevent a person from becoming infected. He said that there is some indication that it does reduce the severity of the diase, but its use for preventing the disease among the general population is not considered to be practical.
