She reads considerably, and her only other hobby is riding her by the editor Yes, weve lived in many communities, with the blessing of having made a great many friends, and having had the privilege of serving in many capacities! That's the spirit of friendship and service that permeates the family of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Jones, who recently became residents of Nephi. Were looking forward to having our own home, and continuing to be a part of the community Mrs. Jones added. Mr. and Mrs. Jones are natives of the South Salt Lake County area, he from South Jordan and she from Draper. Each is a graduate of Jordan High School, but they did not become acquainted until they were students at Brigham Young University. Jones received his Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy from BYU and will receive his Masters degree from Utah State University early in June. He served for six years as county extension agent in Grand and San Juan counties and was with the Extension Services at Ely, Nevada (White Pine County) for some time. He also worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs prior to going to Logan where he did resident work at USU toward his Masters degree, and worked for the Extension Service. He was appointed Extension Service agent for Juab County last summer. County Agent Jones served an LDS mission to the New England States and has continued in church service wherever he has resided. He has served in various teaching positions in preisthood quorums and in Sunday School, and has been president of the MIA and Sunday School. He served for some time as assistant stake clerk, and was a counselor to the bishop of the Ely, Nevada Second Ward. He also served as bishop of that ward. He currently is chairman of the services and activities committee of the Nephi First Ward Aaronic Priesthood MIA. Mrs. Jones is the former Emalie Adamson, a native of Draper, and was valedictorian of her graduating class at Jordan High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Brigham Young University, with a minor in music. She and Mr. Jones were married at the Salt Lake Temple. Mrs. Jones doesnt seem to have any favorite recipe, but her family members enthusiastically agree that her home made ice cream is tops . . .and she makes it every week or so. She does sewing for herself and family. Talented in music, she has served in several wards as ward organist, and currently is senior Sunday School organist in the First Ward. She also is serving as spiritual living department leader of the ward Belief Society. In years past, she has served in the MIA as president and as class leader, and in a Relief Society presidency. The family members are Peggy, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Susan, Gordon, David, and Janette. Peggy is just completing the tenth grade at Juab High School, and formerly attended Logan Junior High School She says that she has no favorite school subject, but that she enjoyed being in the school play this bicycle. She is junior Sunday School organist, and also plays the piano very well. She is also president of the MIA Maids group of the ward. Peggy is a talented artist, and one of her paintings hangs on the living room wall at the Jones home. In the photo above, it can be seen. Jonathan, better known as Jon, is 14. He is a counselor in the presidency of the Deacons quorum in the First ward, and is completing the eighth grade at Juab Junior High. He enjoys physical education most of all of his school classes, and d run and the participated in the mile relay as a member of the Junior High track team. Jon has a very interesting hobby model rocketry. He has made some 12 rockets, and some of them have a capacity of climbing 300 to 500 feet in the air. Jon explained that a small explosive charge in the model rocket blows off the nose cone and lifts out tiny parachutes, enabling the rocket to land without damage. Jon also plays the trombone in the school band. Jeffrey is 13, a student in the seventh grade. He is also interested in physical education. He was a member of the Junior High wrestling team, the track team, and the Pony League baseball team. He is looking forward to trips with the Scout troop of the ward to Grand Canyon, and possibly to Expo 70 at Spokane. Jeffrey plays the baritone horn in the school band. Active in church, he is a Deacon in the First Ward, and regularly attends and participates in Sunday School and MIA. Susan will be 12 years of age soon, and is completing the sixth grade. Although art is her favorite subject, she enjoys playing tether ball at the elementary school. Shes not looking forward (much) to Junior High next year, primarily because theres not tether ball court there. She is a student of the piano, and is a very good seamstress for her age. She will soon graduate from Primary, where she has been a regular attender. She also attends Sunday School regularly. Gordon, 7 is just completing the first grade, and enjoys making things in the classes, as well as reading and art. Gordon says he enjoyed the Fathers and Sons outing held last week, which he attended with his father and brothers. e David, 5. is the familys youngster. He appears to have a perpetual smile, and helps his mother tend Janette, his baby sister. David says he likes Electric Company and Sesame Street television programs. We tried to tie him down to find out which of the two he enjoyed most, but he likes them the same better in his words. Baby sister of the family is Janette, four months of age, who wasnt doing much talking when we visited the family the other evening She seemed to be apprehensive about the flashes from the camera, though, as we shot the photo. It was nice to get to know Mr. and Mrs. Jones better, and to meet and talk to them and their family members. We're highly recommending them as A Family You Should Know" and are positive that they are. and will become an even more vital i in the con. mainly and the county. 880-yar- stay-at-hom- c-- Young, Debra Spencer, Jyll Johnson, Bevan Orme, and Margo Mickelson.
