Number 20 i invitedVAp' - 7 outing Friday Beverly Hall - The annual Fathers and Sons outing sponsored by Nephi Stake will be held at the Stakes recreational area Friday evening and Saturday, according to Dr. Nelson L. Jones of the Stake Aaronic Priesthood Committee. Dr. Jones stated that the area is reached via the Broadhead lane to Cedar Point, and thence Easterly to the area which is just under the Red Cliffs. Those attending should bring their own firewood, and provide their own suppers for Friday evening. At 8 p.m., the Stake will sponsor a program with Elder Dale T. Tingey, regional representative of the Quorum of the Twelve, as the special speaker. Breakfast Saturday morning, furnished by the Stake, will be followed by games and recreation, with the outing closing time as noon Saturday. Here's who'll be running this year!! Primary election contests appear likely for two positions on the Democratparty for county offices, and three other nominees are unopposed for election, following the official filing deadline Friday, May 10 at 5 p.m., according to Earl Warner, Juab County Clerk. Those unopposed for election are Thomas Earl Fowkes, Mona Republican nominee for County Assessor; and Milton T. Harmon, Nephi, Democrat, nominee for County Attorney. Winner of the Primary election race for the for the Sheriff nomination on the Democratic party: A. Duane Sperry or Robert Lynn Painter, will be unopposed in the November election, as no filing was made on the Republican side of the ballot. Primary election races face Elden C. Sherwood and Clinn A. Morgan, both of whom are seeking the four-yea- r Democratic nomination for commissioner. In the event that a candidate can obtain 70 percent of the delegate votes at the county convention, he can win the nomination. Peterson, incumbent, Republican, Nephi; and Homer Peterson, Democrat, Delta, have filed for the nomination for State Representative for this area. ar Lions hear club official Jim Lundberg, past district governor, and past international director was guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Nephi Lions Club held May 9 at Mickelson Cafe. Mr. Lundberg discussed proper functioning of Lionism. Loran Garrett was presented with a perfect attendance pin, the presentation being made by Jack Brough. It was announced at the meeting that club members would participate in a public service project at the Canyon View ball park, Sixth East and First North. Parties set mass meets on Monday Officals of both political parties are urging attendance and participation of party members in the voting district mass meetings which will be held on Monday evening. At the mass meetings delegates will be selected for the county nominating conventions to be held later, and at the county meetings, delegates will be selected for the important state political party conventions. Republican County Chairman Janet Greenhalgh has announced that Republican mass meetings will be held as follows: Nephi First precinct: Leonard Trauntvein residence at 228 South Third East; Nephi Second precinct: City Hall, downstairs; Nephi Third Precinct, Elmo Wilson residence at 12 West First North; Nephi Fourth precinct at C. R. Lomax residence, 45 East Second North. Levan precinct meeting will be held at the City Hall, and Mona precinct meeting will be at the Mona Courthouse. Pat Greenwood, Democratic County Vice Chairwoman has announced that all four Nephi precinct mass meetings will be held at the Juab County Courthouse. All attending will meet at the court room, and the various room assignments for the precinct mass meetings will be announced at that time. In Mona, the Democrat meeting will be held at the Court House, and at Levan, the meeting also will be held at the Court House. All mass meetings are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. FFA teams rate high in state match Teams from the Mt. Nebo Chapter, F.F.A. again placed high in contests held during the past week. The mechanics placed second, the land judging team placed third and the livestock judging team placed tenth in' state competition held at the Utah State University, Logan, May 10 and 11. Members of the mechanics team were llan Prisbrey, Gordon Young, Bevan Orme and Pat Painter. Judging land was the team composed of Kent Park, Robins McPherson, Gordon Young and Bevan Orme. The livestock judging team consisted of Clark Wood, Steven Peterson, Robbins McPherson and Mark Jarrett. Robins McPherson also participated in the meat judging contest for experience. Gordon Young won first place individual award in mechanics and second place in land judging. Swim instruction to be available Summer swim instruction classes will be held again this season, with sign-u- p to be conducted June 3 and 4 between 1 and 8 p.m. at the Nephi Municipal Pool, according to M. Gark Newell, Superintendent of Juab School District. Classes will be held for life saving and scout merit badge work, also for beginners, first and second year. A swim class for women will be held in the evenings, both for instruction and for recreation. He will appear with the BYU Sounds of Freedom Singers. BYU The specially produced variety show group on the tour includes four student dancers and 12 singers, who South African will combine with a band for the tour. Marty completed a mission to Australia and has been participating with the BYU program bureau events since enrolling at the Provo school. Salt Lake City Gayle Cook, Goshen two-mil- l Jelf Anderson I Youth is winner Firebird 100 440-yar- in race Jeff Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Anderson won first place in the Novice class, 126 to 200 classification, at the fourth annual Firebird 100 motorbike race held recently in the West Desert of Juab County. Riding a Honda XL 175, Jeff made the course in approximately four hours. The course is laid out in the Jericho area of west Juab County, and marked through the desert with orange ribbons. He placed fourth in the over all novice class, classification. and first in the 100-mil- e 126-20- 0 Trap shoot aids JHS rodeo club Proceeds from a trap shoot conducted recently by the Nephi Gun Club have been contributed to the Juab High School Rodeo Club to assist in financing the club's fourth annual high school rodeo scheduled for May 31 and June 1. A check for $163 15 has been presented to the club group. Members of the club assisted at the traps during the day. The Gun Gub also is sponsoring a trap shoot May 19 at the club traps, west on the Spring Canyon road ran out of gas and glided for miles before coming down about a half THIS PLANE 12 mile from Nephi's airport. The plane was owned by Phil Stilson of Nephi. TNPhoto Pilot glides plane 12 miles crashes in view of airport Nephi pilot walked away from the crash of his single engine plane Friday afternoon after the plane landed of the Nephi on a farm within a half-mil- e airport, and then flipped over. Phil StiLson, Nephi real estate agent, stated that the plane was out of gas as he passed over Levan, but because of his altitude he was able to glide approximate A out-of-g- ly 12 miles to the airport area. The pla lost altitude and barely missed util lines, and then dropped into the plow land on the Sudweeks farm adjacent to I airport road. Stilson suffered a broken nose and min cuts.
