Peterson as administrator of the Juab County Hospital has been announced jointly by the Juab County Board of Commissioners and the Juab County Hospital Board. Attendants are Sandra Dansle, left and Margo Mickelson. right Plans move ahead for 73 stampede With the 1973 Ute Stampede only five weeks away, plans are moving forward with the committee looking toward another outstanding Utah celebration. Russell H. Jackson is president of this years committee, and members of the committee have completed many of the arrangements necessary to assure an outstanding event. According to Leo Osborne, secretary of the committee, the contract for furnishing the rodeo stock again has been signed with Cotton Rosser of the Flying U Rodeo Committee. Rosser will bring to Nephi the g stock consisting of usual bucking broncos, brahma bulls, steers, etc., and is lining up an impressive list of specialty acts for the big event. Wick Peth, veteran clown of the rodeo circuits who appeared in Nephi several times, has been signed as clown for the Stampede. Peth, who had many narrow escapes in the Ute Stampede arena, will be joined by a clown yet to be named, Ostorne stated. Also returning to the Ute Stampede arena will be Chuck Parkinson, announcer, who has been at the Stampede rodeo-leadin- more than 25 years. The Stampede is one of several top rodeos which this veteran announcer is contracted for during the rodeo season. Specialty acts will include an aerobatic act which has been secured for the opening evening only, because of other prior committments. Also contracted for the Ben Hur Stampede will be the chariot races always a thrilling event in the arena. Trick riding and roping acts will be firmed up within the next few days, according to word from Rosser. Stampede Treasurer Ike Lunt stated that already requests are coming in for reserved seat tickets, and that tickets will be available on Monday of next week, and' basis. orders will be filled on a first-com- e Tickets will be priced the same as last year, Mr. Lunt stated. well-know- n Three former Nephites die heads LDSSA Michael Morgan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan of Nephi, has been selected as president of the Latter-da- y Saint Student Association at Utah State University. Mike, who is a business major at the Logan school, also recently received the David O. McKay Trophy at the Delta Phi banquet, as the outstanding Delta Phi member at Utah State University. The Association is composed of LDS students on the Logan campus, and Mr. Morgan and other officers are planning a program for next school year which will involve more students in activities of the organization. Frank Henry A. Orme died Edward J. Pay Edward J. Pay, 83, died in a Salt Lake nursing home on June 1 of natural causes. Services were held in Salt Lake City Monday. Mr. Pay was born at Nephi on June 21, 1889, to Edward James and Eliza Sinclair Pay. He married Eda Tranter, June 29, 1911 at the Salt Lake Temple. Survivors are his widow of Salt Lake City, two sons and three daughters, 21 a grandchildren; 32 brother and a sister. John D. Vickers Funeral services were held at San Uiego, California, May 29 for John (Jack) D. Vickers, 70. Mr. Vickers had been an insurance executive and realtor in San Diego since 1940. Born at Nephi, he was a son of James VV. and Teressa Davis Vickers. Survivors are his widow, a brother and two sisters: J. H. Vickers, and Mrs. Rhoda V. Shill, Salt Lake City, and Laura V. Price, Nephi. Levan Elders to honor Ted Bosh There will be a farewell party for Ted on Saturday at 7 p m., it was announced recently by the president of Elders quorum in Levan. Elder Bosh is leaving on a mission for the LDS church. . According to quorum officials, everyone is invited. Bosh fire-contr- ol Mike Morgan Three former Nephi residents have died recently according to word received from family members. They are: May 31 at his Henry A. Orme, who home in Orem, Funeral services were conducted Monday at Provo. Mr. Orme was born in Nephi, February 12,. 1907, son of Alfred and Henrietta Adams Orme. He married Myrtle Leona Moss, April 18, 1934 and the marriage later was solemnized at the Manti Temple. An accountant, he retired in 1972 after being employed by Geneva Steel Co. Survivors are his widow of Orem, five sons and daughters; 23 grandchildren, three brothers and a sister: John A. Orme, Monrovia, California; Lincoln A. Orme, Preston, Idaho; Evan A. Orme, Glendale, Arizona and Mrs. VV'ray (Serena) Hyde, Kaysville. resignation of Loren Corbin. Mr. Peterson, according to Timothy H. Irons, chairman of the Hospital Board, has served for several years as accountant and assistant department supervisor for the Kaiser Permanent Medical Care program, supervising capital equipment inventories of all hospitals and clinics in Northern California. He had, prior to that, been an administrative assistant in the programs central business office, supervising some 60 individuals in insurance and federal programs. Mr. Peterson has a BS degree from Southern Utah State College, and has had additional courses in finance and management. He is age 30, married and he and Mrs. Peterson are the parents of two children. Concurrent with the announcement of the appointment of Mr. Peterson, Mr. Irons stated that arrangement and physical facilites are being completed for instant analysis of EKG reports. With a telephone circuit from the hospital to the Utah Valley Hospital at Provo, instant readings and analysis of EKG reports on . heart patients will be given, and if necessary, the specialist can consult with and advise the local physician concurrent with the reports transmission. Mr. Irons also stated that a and service on diagnosis of bloodsamples also is being arranged for, and in special cases, more immediate service can be available. He stated that most reports can be handled at the hospital by Phil V. Sperry, a certified medical technologist who for some time has been , doing laboratory work at the Hospital,' furnishing reports to the local physicians. The arrangements now being completed will supplement the local analysis to give greater service to the hospital and patients. Pending state approval, plans are completed for installation of a sprinkling system throughout the hospital building, and a revamping of laundry lacilites. Mr. Irons stated that the Hospital Board and County Commission, are looking forward to making the Juab County Hospital the number one small hospital in the state. Luella B. Ostler Luella Ostler, The car which carried two Nephi ladles to their death Monday Is showa near the Inlormation received from family members is that Miss Mickelson suffered a lractured jaw, and multiple cuts and bruises. She is reported in satisfactory condition at the hospital at Provo. Miss Carter sustained a broken back, with two vertabrae involved. She is paralized, according to word from the family, from the waist down. I Funeral services for Erma Mae Boyington Carter, 49 of Nephi will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Nephi d Ward Chapel. Mrs. Carter died in an automobile accident on June 4. Mrs. Carter was born May 5, 1924, at Manti. Utah to Clinton Thomas and Hazel Emerette Tuttle Boyington. She married Rex Howell Carter, September 19, 1946, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Carter was a graduate of Manti High School and w as active in the LDS Primary association and the Rebel Society. She was a member ol the Variette and Chalice Clubs, and a leader in Nephi Survivors include her husband, a son, Da id Leon, and a daughter, Arlene, all of Nephi. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Hael E. Boyington. Manti; brothers, Delbert L. and Thomas, both of Ogden; sisters: Mrs. Merlin (Irene) Boswell of Alberquerque. Injured were Miss Arlene Carter, 14, daughter of Rex Carter and Mrs. Carter, and Miss Lori Mickelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay C. Mickelson. They were enroute to Logan for a youth conference. According to the report in a Salt Lake City newspaper, the car, driven by Mrs. Sparks, hit the freeway guard rail, went out of control and proceeded along the rail for some 86 feet, and then plunged over the side of an overpass, landing near railroad tracks some 40 feet below. The young ladies were taken to the American Fork hospital, Miss Carter later being transferred to the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, and Miss Mickelson to the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. She was born December 14, 1889 at Nephi to Andrew Jackson and Sarah Jane Worthington Blackett. She married George Henry Ostler, June 12, 1914 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Ostler died August 13, 19(i9. Mrs Ostler was instrumental in organizing the Juab County Farm Bureau Ladies in 1930 and served as its president for 12 years. She was a member of the Juab County Fair Board for 19 years, and was also (resident of the Nephi Garden Club She served on the Nephi Third Ward Ward reunion committee lor 32 years, as well as having served in many LDS Church positions both on a ward and stake level. She was also active in community allairs. Survivors include: sons; Therle G. Ostler ol Provo, Alan L. Mrs. Sparks was born May 1, 1918 in Payson, Utah, a daughter of Leland Scott and Emily Lucile Duke Tanner. She married Dee Earl Sparks, October 6, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Mrs. Sparks was active in the LDS church, having served as MIA drama director, ward and stake Primary secretary and Stake Primary president for several years. She also served as a Sunday School teacher, a counselor in the Relief Society, and also as work director in the (Thursday) . Relief Society. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1936 and Brigham Young University in 1970. At the time of1 her death, Mrs. Sparks was employed with the Utah State University Extension service as county home agent. She is survived by her husband, Dee E. Sparks, Nephi; daughters: Mrs. Dee (Helen) Tranter, Ann Nielson, both of Moab; sons, DeRay Sparks, Denver, Colorado, L. Scott Sparks, Wendover, Also Utah; and ten grandchildren.
