Previously he was county clerk, county attorney, and member of the Utah State Legislature. In addition to his professional duties for a number of years he was president of the Juab Stake and pres ently is stake patriarch. Symbolical of the esteem with which Judge Hoyt is held, is the manner in which his judicial duties have been shared by judges from adjacent districts since he suffered a heart attack last September. His colleagues have been most gracious and considerate in easing the judges work. He expressed, in his letter of resignation to Gov. George D. Clyde, his deep appreiation for this service and his regrets that ill health makes it necessary for him to retire. In his wise counsel and keen judgment Judge Hot has demonstrated eloquently that justice lives, not only through laws but through people.
