Our Members school class play When we . announced our flags contest ww making and really did not expect to get such splendid response from our members. We thought that was quite a difficult contest. But to our surprise and Joy we received a number of beautiful hand-maflags, and several carved from soap. The very prettiest flag ot sent waa in by Mona A. Snyder, all age 13. of Park City Her flag was beautifully aewn of red and whltw satin ribbon. The field was of biuo satin with stars embroidered to white silk. Mona won 300 points. Janet Higgs. Bingham Canyon, ago 9, sent in a flag that ran Mona's a close second. It wse made of narrow red and white ribbon aewed together. Silver stars were pasted on toe blue field. Vlra Henris sge 12, Panguitch. painted her red stripes and blue field on a white silk background. This ww a clever and painspiece of work The standard taking was band-carvand painted. Lakeside, Jacqueline Peterson. Utah, also sent a flag neatly and carefully made of red and white ribbon, and Marjorie Mellor of Mantf, Utah, sent her flag, painted with water colors on a linen background. Each of these girls received 100 points. The first sward ot 200 points toe toe soap carving ot the flag went to Esquire Joe Dvorak. Aberdeen. Idaho, age 10, and Roene McRae, .age 12. Balt Lake, gets 100 points tor hie During the summer almost every group of children will try to present at least one playlet or pageant or fete of some sort or other. Playgrounds, s, camps, neighborhood religious organizations, all have summer festivals. "Childrens Theaters and Plays," by Constance D'Arcy Mackay, Is a book that will help anyone who Is interested In childrens plays. Not only does Miss Mackay give valuable directions for church plays, outdoor plays, school plays, school festivals and so on; but she also gives definite instructions on how to conduct a de . childrens theater. The art of the childrens play in general is treated in such a fashion that one catches the significance and the cultural value of this activity. Marionette theaters are dealt with clearly, with many suggestions that make one of these Tom Thumb" shows practical for any community. The way to go about establishing, furnishing and conducting a childrens theater is also clearly given. Finally there is a chapter oh moving pictures as they appeal to children. The book is beautifully illustrated and contains a fine list of plays suitable for childrens production. It is published by D. Appleton and company. But she never forgot to thank her Aunt Evelyn for sending her the little paper. Aide Helen Millard of Layton had one of the leading parts in the play given at the dose of her school in May. In fact. Aide Helen had the title role, being the Queen in The Queens Surprise," which was presented by her class. Although Aide Helen Is only 10 years old, she makes a very dignified little queen, doesnt she? She Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Millard. Then I got an O on my chart Now when he tries to tease me, I dont pay any attention to him. He is now getting tired of it When he tries to tease me I walk away, leaving him talking to himself. X find that this works real well with me. I am going to try to get some of my friends to Join the Knighthood of Youth. There are not many that belong to it here. I hope we can have meetings this summer. I have made a scrapbook of the Knighthood of Youth. I have many Knighthood things in it I wish you could have more of the little Knighthood pictures that were in the dally Tribune.
