The photograph below was sent to me by Edith K. Lyman, Mary Lou who is one of the by Mary Lou Hoggard performers. Hope Whats Newby you enjoy it! A grand perfor- mance was presented during the Days of 47 pioneer celebration by this group of local Monticelloites. This photo was taken in 1947 on the front lawn of the elementary school. Highway 491 is in the back- volved in church and community groups along with raising her family. I say her husband Karl missed out not being a dancer. Clement and Alice Johnson moved here and set up farming east of town while raising their family. Their home was where many female school teachers boarded while teaching at the country schools. Tom Evans played the violin at dances, ground and the cel- ebrations and fu-- n s e r a City Park is now located there. The group per- 1 throughout his dancing and put life. Assistant postmistress Sally Kyle reports things were blissfully quiet and normal in La Sal. Thats just the way we like it! Miller and Jenny Ilarral moved hen to be close to family. Miller worked at the uranium mill. Seemed like Jenny Need $$$ for a vacation? VJe was born smiling and they were parents to two sons. Jot Harral married Jeri Ann Adams and Miller was a brother to Ernest Harral. Wesley Norton was a County Sheriff at one time and he and Thora raised a nice family. They lived just west of Grayson Redds home. Thora is a sister to Afton Frost. Louie Frost lived north of town about two houses north of Benny Mussulman, with her husband Heber. Evidently, Heber wasnt a dancer. Louie and Heber operated cafes around town and the food was d vittles. real June and Alvarette Pehrson lived south of town where the Kilgrows now live. June farmed and sharpened scissors as an extra way to make money. Yes, theyre back! Those pesky, annoying moths have returned to the lower country after their summer in the cool of the mountain. I dont remember experiencing quite as big a plague of these guys as weve had this year, starting in the spring with the cutworms.
