Show CEU-SJ- j Elated Upward officials at CEU-Sa- Bound n Juan Campus recently received word that their successful 1 proposal for continued funding i was in the top 10 percent nationwide. That ranking 1 means the I CEU-SJ- program is one of 79 programs that is funded for five years instead C of four. The winning CEU-SJ- C proposal was among 792 successful applications funded by the U.S. Department of Education; it is one of three in : , Utah that received the five-yea- r funding status. Utah Valley State College and Weber State are the other two. This is the second time that a UB proposal from CEU-SJC has placed in the top 10 percent. Both were written by grants consultant Lynn Lee. He was assisted on the latest project by grants specialist Sheri Montella, Keele Johnson, Education Talent Search director, and Jami Yoakam, UB coordinator. According to Tony Wojcik, UB director, the program is in r its fourth year of a five-yea- grant from the previous funding cycle. "The new grant will extend UB operations through 2010, but the amount of funding is always dependent on how much Congress allocates to us, Wojcik said. The last grant brought over two million dollars into the r program during its funding cycle. Wojcik says the same amount, with a "possible two to live percent increase is part of the next five-yea- r budget. About 95 percent of that amount, says Wojcik, will stay in our service region through salaries and operating five-yea- costs. M area includes high schools in Blanding.
