Paul R. Macdonald Appreciate hard work of health administrator D.D.S. Dear Editor: We would like to publicly acknowledge John Hart, the administrator of San Juan Health Services District. We appreciate the hard work and daily effort he provides to health care in San Juan County. He has not only brought the hospital out of the red, but he has brought in the newest technology possible and continues to strive for new and better ways of quality care. John is like a ray of sunshine to SJHSD; he is what we have wanted for years. Wo needed his expertise in health care to allow us to continue to have the capability of providing the highest level of care possible in the Four Corners. While my husbanel anel I elo not live in the state at the present time, we still have very strong tie's to the county. My husband is currently stationed at McGuire AFB, New Jei sev with the US Air Force. I have to laugh when I think of Blaneling residents complaining that 20 elrive to to have to minutes the here in New when go they hospital Jersey we elrive 30 to 45 minutes to get to hospitals, doctors offices, etc... We live in a densely populated state and we still must travel upwards of an hour or more to receive medical care. There is a nursing shortage EVERYWHERE. This is not a localized problem. For the mayor anel city council of Blanding to claim that closing the center was done em purpose for petty reasons by San Juan Health Care is also laughable. The resielents of the county should be thankful there is a hospital, let alone a clinic, birthing center, etc. Too many rural areas are losing electors, nurse's and in turn losing hospitals. Insteael of the bickering anel backbiting going em over this whole issue., the WHOLE county needs to come together to support THEIR county hospital. No support can lead to closed doors. ) Closed Sunday Christensen Whole county needs to come together Daredevil Call for times Office Manager TERRY CRAMER 630 Feb 14 - 20 (PC) Dear Editor: What is it? Envy, jealousy, or sour grapes when the federal government cuts income taxes, and the hue and cry is that it only benefits the rich. Most of us pay some form of taxes such as a sales tax, but half of the American people pay no income tax so they should not be eligible for an income tax cut. By the way, who are all of these rich people? Well, anybody with the good fortune of being a citizen of the United States is rich in many ways that has nothing to do with money. Almost only in America can a youngster grow up with desire, drive, passion, and education, a little luck and become a millionaire. What this country needs is millions of millionaires who have the money to fund education, charities, think tanks, pay taxes, create jobs and everything else. Poor people cant do these things, but they can become rich in America. As we get more rich people, the more prosperous the country becomes. Of course there are bad rich people just as there are bad poor people, but booing the rich is not constructive because it suggests that there is something bad about being rich. Money has been accused of being the root of all evil, but theres nothing wrong with that youngster who invents a hydro electric car and Publisher Editor BILL BOYLE (PC) Kangaroo Jack Envy, jealousy or sour grapes? - 3) 12 & 13 Kangaroo Jack Feb 14 -- 20 April Richardson Dr. D.
