Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday, February 14 10, 1999 - Page Five local student athletes named Academic 8 Broncos. 12 Bucks advance to state meet this week All-Sta- te San Juan Broncos claim Region 13 wrestling title The San Juan Broncos swept to their second straight Region 13 wrestling title on the way to qualifying to send 14 wrestlers to the state wrestling meet. Four Broncos claimed individual championships to lead the way. The Monticello Buckaroos finished third in the tourna- ment, with three individual champions and 12 qualifiers for the 2A State Tournament which is this weekend at the E Center in West Valley City. At 103 pounds, Mark Snyder of Monticello High School won all of his matches on the way to claiming the championship. Snyder will be joined at the state meet by Buckaroo teammate Andy Butler, who finished fourth in the tournament. For the first time this year, more than one wrestler from a school could qualify for the state tournament at each weight. Quinn Keith of San Juan High School qualified as the third place finisher at 103 pounds at the Region meet. At 112 pounds, Nathan Butler swept to victory in all three of his matches to claim the Region championship. Clayton Johnson of San Juan High School also qualified for the state meet. Luther Sagg of San Juan claimed the championship at the 119 pounds division. He will be joined at the state meet by Chet Wareham of Monticello, who finished fourth.
