Show All county high schools represented THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday November 20, 1996 Page 7 Honor Band, Choir to perform The San Juan School Dis- trict will hold the annual High School Honor Band and Choir performance tonight (Wednesday, November 20) at 6:00 p.m. at the Monticello High School Au- ditorium. Guest conductors will be Wayne Erickson, former director at Monticello High School and present director of Bands and Music Chair at Utah Valley State College, and Monte Atkinson, Direc tor of Choral Activities and Department Chair at Mesa State College. More than 200 students from all four San Juan County high schools will re- hearse with the guest conductors on Tuesday and Wednesday in preparation for the grand concert Wednesday night. Five judges made their selections based on competition in traditional and contemporary talent, traditional dress and evening gown. Impromptu questions, directed at each contestant, also helped judges reach their decision. Coronation of Miss Heritage and Helena Lake, daughter of and Helen Lake of Blanding, captured the Miss Heritage title for 1996-97- . Lake was selected from among six contestants on November 14 in the fourth annual pageant, held at the Albert R. Lyman Middle School in Blanding. Tsailee Kiro, daughter of Jeannie Kiro of Blanding, was named First Attendant. Nielson of Monticello, completed requirements for a master of education degree from Utah State University. Nielson is married to Lea Ann Nielson. They have five children. Ron attended San Juan High School in Blanding and received a bachelor of science degree in English from Southern Utah University in 1989. For part of his masters work, Ron developed a spelling curriculum for a seventh and eighth grade Nielson English class. teaches and coaches in Monticello.
