Eleven Seniors went on SOI In- dian dancing at the park, and for a lovely dinner. The Doyle Rowleys again extended their gracious hospitality to the Seniors. On the 10th, they hosted a pot luck picnic at their cabin on the mountain, which was attended by 18. The trip to Blanding for the play was scheduled for the 21st, but had to be cancelled because the play closed on the 14th. Maybe next year. The much anticipated pontoon boat ride on McPhee Reservoir on the 24th was cancelled by personnel at the reservoir because of a bad lightning storm. Well try again on September 21. Get your name on the list. At our Fourth Wednesday Social on the 26th, 29 attended. After a delicious roast beef repast, we enjoyed listening to Jason Liv- ingston and his three sisters play selections on the piano. The music was followed by a slide show of rescues in National Parks by Walt Dabney of the National Park Service. A group of 11 enjoyed an impromptu trip to Cortez on Monday the 31st. They ate at the Hong Kong Cafe there, and had a good time in general. Lets make September a month to remember! One thing to remember is that our Wednesday Social will be held on the fifth Wednesday (the 30th) because of commodity distribution on September 23. GS 7 JV football at San Juan High The Bronco sophomore football team started their season with a 7 to 6 victory over the Red Devil sophomores. The victory came with 2:00 remaining in the game. Kenley Brown a picked up fumbled punt to return the ball 40 yards. McFarland kicked the point after. The JV team lost to the Dove Creek varsity 20 to 50. J. J. Bradford returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. Jeff Q. Johnson scored on a pass from Josh Nielson. Nielson scored the final a keeper behind Lance Knight.
