Show TIIE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday June 19,1991 - Page 10 IRS form 8300 Proposed new rules ex- panding the definition of cash to be used in filing information returns, Form 8300, were released recently by the Internal Revenue Service. These rules implement changes to the law made by the Revenue Rec- - onciliation Act of 1990. Generally, any business that receives more than $10,000 in cash in one transaction, or two or more related transactions, must report the transaction on a Form 8300 and file it with the IRS. Under the proposed rules just announced, cashiers checks, bank drafts, travelers checks and money orders in an amount less than $10,000 are, under Clarence W. CRAPO Clarence Willard Crapo died April 9, 1991. He was born October 1, 1917, at Yellow Jacket, Colorado, to Clarence Ezra and Lola Blanche Morris Crapo. The family home was on the UtahColorado border, north of Lockerby, Utah. When Clarence was two years old, his mother died. His father was a cowboy, and most of the time he kept Clarence with him. He rode on the back of his dads saddle until he was old enough to ride his own horse. Clarence attended school at Ucolo and Coal Bed, both one room schools. He volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1941; achieved the rank of staff sergeant; served in certain circumstances, considered cash. The IRS said that experience has shown these types of monetary instruments are being used by individuals currency reporting quirements. and was tary instruments are considered cash when they are received by a business from the retail sale of certain tangible personal property, and travel or entertainment activities. The IRS said these new rules are proposed to be effective 60 days after final regulations are issued. Presley Leroy Little, age 37, of Montezuma Creek passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital, Cortez, on June 14, 1991. A resident of Montezuma Creek for 18 years, he was born in Raton, New Mexico, on June 19, 1953, the son of Bertha Fern Hoffman and George Presley Little. He is survived by his wife Debbee, daughters Misty and Liberty, sons Presley Miles and Cody, grandson Dwight Bitsuie, and mother Fern Matthews, all of Montezuma Creek, and son Patrick of Albuquerque.
