Wednesday February 6; 1985 The U.S. Department of Energy will hold public hearings in communities near sites in salt de- posits being considered for possible further study for the first underground repository for radioactive waste. The hearings are for the purpose of receiving oral comments from the public on draft environmental assessments prepared for nine potentially acceptable nuclear waste repository sites in Utah, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, Texas, and Washington. The draft documents were issued last December 20 for public review and comment. The comment period ends March 20. The hearings in Utah are follows: as planned Tuesday, February 19, 1985, from 4 to 9 p.m., Monticello High School. Moab, Wednesday, February 20, 1985, from 4 to 9 p.m., Helen M, Knight Elementary School. Lake City, .Friday, 1985, from 2 to 22, February 9 p.m., at the Hotel Utah, South Temple and Main Streets. Each person scheduled to appear is requested to provide a copy of his or her statement at the hearing for submission to the record of the hearing.
