The application period for all big game hunting permits, to be entered in a drawing, will be July 5 through July 31, will be accepted by mail only at a post office box number listed in the procDivision lamation. officials mail-in applicationpro-cedu- re hope the will eliminate confusion and be more convenient for ap1983-19- 84 Ap-licati- ons plicants. This year will see an increase in the number of antlerless deer control permits in both the regular and postseason hunts. More control permits will be issued for central and southern Utah deer herd units than in past years. More restricted area elk permits will also be issued in 1983, A new elk area, Panguitch Lake, will open to hunting for the first time this year. Hunters are reminded that a two-ye- ar waiting was last period imposed year on restricted elk area permits. Hunters who drew restricted area elk permits in 1982 are ineligible to apply for a permit in 1983 and 1984. But they wiH be able to buy a 1983 open buH permit this year. The big game proclamation, which includes important changes, season dates, descriptions of hunting areas, general hunt area maps and the regulations of the hunts, will be available from all agents selling hunting and fishing licenses by June 30. Also available from these sources wiU be application forms for deer antlerless control hunts, as well as restricted area elk, moose, antelope and buffalo hunts. The application form wiU be separate from the proclamation, so hunters should pick up BOTH the proclamation and application form at the license agent nearest them or at any Division of Wild-li- ve Resources office. Hunters wishing to apply for restricted hunts should be certain of the area boundaries. Several changes passed by the State Legislature wiU affect this year's hunting. Fifteen-ye- ar olds turning 16 in the 1983 calendar year wiU be able to purchase a big game license and apply for permits if desired. The new hunters are reminded that if they are in the field at 15 years of age, they must be accompanied by a person 21 years of age or older. Military personnel can qualify immediately for resident hunting and fishing licenses if they meet certain requirements. Check with the nearest Division office for details. 1983 WHIPPLE PLUMBING Sprinkling Systems Water Heaters Water softeners Sewers and Drain Service Coolers Doug Whipple, owner 587-286- 4 |
