In a newsy letter this week from longtime friend Grace Shumway, who has spent the past several months with her son Dr. Gary Shumway and family in Anaheim, California, she writes she has had an enjoyable time seeing the sights and enjoying the weather but will be glad to get back home like all paragain. Grace, ents, says she has the best kids in the world, and her are super grandchildren' (Grace does have an extra fine family). Gracd tells about the beautiful orange groves there. Many of the oranges are on the ground, and with oranges the price they are on the market, we long for a bucket or two of them this very minute for juice for breakfast. Grace said that these windfalls are gathered up and mixed with other feed and fed to some cattle there. We hever heard of this before. Grace said that in March the family went to Capistrano Mission to watch the swallows return. No one knows how these swallows know when its March nor why they choose this date to return. Even when it rains if its the right date they return anyway. She helped Gary take care of his bees and they picked fresh limes and avoca-doe- s. She says honey made from orange blossoms is mild and light color, while avocado blossoms produce dark honey. The letter was interesting and we hope Grace has a nice return trip home.
