Photo by Jane Turnbull REGION By Janet Wilcox Making it five years now in succession, dramatists from San Juan High School captured first place in Region 10 drama competition held April 16 in Price. Fifty-fiv- e students reSan Juan High, with presented 21 of them qualifying for further state competition after receiving superior ratings at the contest last week. Congratulations go to Mrs. Lynette Adams for coaching such a crew. And Good Luck at State May 1st and 2nd in Provo. The students competed in eight different categories with eight other schools. San Juan scored 119 points with Alta-mosecond with 87. Monti-cell- o received 45 points and Moab 64 points. San Juan's one-a- ct The Shoplay, emakers received Wife," fourth place. Acting in it were Val Laws, Lyle Nielson and Heather Hurst. Lyle was chosen as Best Supporting Actor for his part in the production. The improvisation troupe, composed of Linda Hunt, Tymwell-prepar- ed nt ra Shumway, Vaughn Palmer, Kumen Jones and Kendra Holt, received a "Superior and took first place in competition. The play scene from "Barefoot in the Park," with Andrea Perkins and Greg Lyman, also won a first place rating. Carolyn Bergshoeff, Ned Smith, Kurt Blickenstaff and Cathy Heinz received third place in their scene from "The Man Who Came to Dinner. Fifth place went to Becky Cochran, Bruce Heinz, and Marta McDonald. Also receiving an excellent rating were Tillie Geuze, Craig Simpson and Jeff Black. They were selected as first alternates. Second alternates were Sylvia Black, Jess Cornwell and Raeline Hawkins.
