Carlock Johnson, superintendent of both areas, said an informal preplanning meeting will be held at the Lake Powell Visitor Center in Page, Arizona, April 12, beginning at 10 a.m. State Official Terms Blanding Meeting "Best" By JANET WILCOX It was the best community meeting Ive attended in 16 years, stated Ray A. Norton, of Employment director Development from the State Department of Employment, speaking about the Wednesday (March 28) public meeting held at San Juan High School concerning the proposed shirt factory. Mr. Norton, who has worked in Employment Development Division for 16 years, reported to the Blanding Chamber of Commerce Thursday that he has worked with communities for years in developing this type of industry and stressed that we as a community need to be prepared, and organized, to be more than just parade watchers and to see what you can do to help Blanding. Chamber Backs Commission Notes Western Themeof ByStatePEARL WHITTAKER Calvin The Monticello Chamber Commerce voted at their regular Tuesday meeting to promote the use of a Western andor Rustic theme for Monticello. This action was taken after a poll of local businesses conducted by Chamber President Listen LUMBER COMPANY, INC. fired up their Recapture Wash operation again last Friday, and added 22 full-tiemployees to the work force in the county. Not yet in action are members of the planer crew, but most have been hired and the company reports a backlog of applications. Oliver Binam is resident manager for the company, and said Tuesday that logging has been halted temporarily by bad road and woods conditions.
