Social Events Flood Calendar For Blandingites By JANET WILCOX End of the summer parties filled calendars of many this past week. With two and three activities to go to a week, who cares that fall is just around the corner. The annual steak fry sponsored by the San Juan Hospital board was held Saturday, 26th for all Nursing Home employees and their partners. Besides all the good food, a program was provided. Vocal selections were sung by Mrs. Blandingites Bevin Wright, accompanied by Jeannie Redd, and piano and drum duets were played by Lee Deremo and Lila Palmer. arrangements were furnished by Mabel Hurst for the festive occasion. Floral Also held on the 26th was a cookout at the 3rd reservoir for the 1st Ward Elders Quorem. elders Approximately 20 and their wives attend- ed the potluck affair. An overnight campout staged by the Division of Family Services was held at the lake the 25th and 26th. Over 40 em ployees and their families braved the wind and rain, in order to enjoy their cookout and water skiing. Chairman of the event was Steve Bronson. The Merlin Grover family was stranded between the lake and the Bridges overnight with a broken wheel bearing, but finally joined the main camp in time for some water skiing. Despite the elements it was a unfriendly fun and eventfull weekend for all who attended. The MIA hosted a cookout for officers and teachers and. their spouses at Don and Gwen Smiths mountain hideaway, August 23. Steaks were cooked by experts Don Smith andNor-ma- n Nielson. The rest of the fix ins were potluck dishes. Approximately 40 people enjoyed the social. activities were Campfire MCed by Jerry Adams, and included harmonica selections by Oliver Harris, duet by Ma,rsha Keele and Lorraine Mantz, group singing, and tall Carnival MONTE YOUNG SHOWS now appearing ilhiim Monday, Sept. Swinging back to MIA is the theme of the Bfanding three wards opening social dance to be held September 5 & 6 in the cultural hall. There will be two dances, both beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening is for MIA youth 14 years and older and adults. Wednesdays dance is for Scouts and Beehives. KUTAs radio D.J.s Dwayne Lyman and Earl Stevens will M.C. the dance activities and are sure to select just the right music. Either pant suits or dresses are acceptable dress for girls. Tall frosty floats and doughnut middles are planned for refreshments. All youth in the B landing area are encouraged to come and Swing Back to MIA. Family Moves To Hanksville Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rose and son, Dallen, are moving to Hanksville where he will teach the 4th, 5th, and 6th at the elementary grades school. Mrs. Rose, Brenda, is a B landing native and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Martineau. Mr. Rose graduated from CSU three years ago and then served two years in Viet Nam as a medic.
