Empire Electric users Get Credit Refund s Checks totaling $81, 705. 23 were mailed May 26 to more than five thousand Empire Electric consumers. The payments are to return capital credits earned in 1960. This payment brings to $642, 245. 37 the total refunds issued by Empire Elec- tric. First refunds were made in 1963 for credits earned in 1952. Empire Electric's Capital Credit Plan is a guarantee of electric service at cost. All revenue over and above the actual cost of furnishing the consumers electric service is credited back in the form of capital credits. Empire E'ectric uses these funds as consumer-furnishe- d capital for a ten year period as required by state and federal government. The board of directors then orders these funds returned in cash to the consumer. Since 1963, credits accumulated ten years prior have been refunded annually. Utah Gas Service Announces New Rates Co As a result of an increase in the wholesale price of natural gas by the El Paso Natural Gas pipeline supplier, Utah Gas Service Company innounce an increase in rates. The increase was approved by the Utah Public Service Commission to offset the supplier increase. This increase (the first since 1958) will be effective on bills received by Utah Gas Service customers on their June 1st billing for the month of May. A schedule of new rates is on file at the offices of Utah Gas Service Company. Knit Sewing Classes Set to Begin June V There is still space available for anyone wishing to take the Knit sewing Class. Classes will begin June 14 and run through June 19. Two classes are taught each day, so you can pick the one most convenient for you.
