Word has been received here by relatives that Frank Kartchne r who lives in Salt Lake City has recently married a charming lady by the name of Pearl. His many friends here wish them every happiness. We are pleased to hear that Floyd Nielson who has been so seriously ill in Mesa, Ariz. , at their winter home is much improved and is able to be about some now. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Lyman and small son came over the weekend on business and to visit his parents the Stanley Lymans and other relatives and friends, Norman is attending BYU in Provo where they live. Mrs. Pauline Landerback and Mrs. Minnie Johnson drove to Cortez on Wednesday to do some shopping and to attend to business. Mrs. Afton Stevens and Mrs. Ruth P. Palmer entertianed the Birthday Club at the Stevens home on Wednesday evening. Every member was there except Marion Nielson who is in Brazil with her daughter Rhoda Jane and her husband and family and Pearl Bayles who has spent the winter in New York and New Jersey with her sister and daughter and JIM The Senior High chorus and the A band attended a Music Meet in Price on Tuesday. A special "Earth Day" assembly was presented Wednesday as a county effort to discuss conservation of our resources. The Junior Prom, " Romeo and Juliet," is scheduled for Saturday, April 25. The ladies of the Cortez church served a lovely meal which was followed by the annual business meeting of the San Juan Section.
