Show Utah receives grant for historic sites The State of Utah has been awarded a $13,603 grant by the Dept, of Interior to assist in the preservation of historic ' sites. The State will use the money in making surveys to identify properties of historical, archeological and architectural ' significance for the National Register of Historic Places and I when the sites have been decided upon the State will then develop plans for the preservation of the properties. Presently Utah has nine historic sites included in the National Historic Register. They are Emigration Canyon, Temple Square, The Bingham Canyon open pit copper mine, Brigham Young's Lion es House, the Golden Spike National Monument, Desolation Canyon, Danger Cave and in San Juan County there are Hovenweep National Monument and Alkali Ridge.
