Show SJHS seniors honored Miss Brooks weds Buttrill Miss Gwenda Ray Brooks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe T. .Brooks of Clovis, N. M. Following the graduation exercises at San Juan High School on May 23 a reception and tea was given by the faculty. The Seniors of 1969 met for supper and one last before they separated and went their various ways - to jobs in other cities, to school, or just relaxing a bit before settling down to jobs on the old home front. The supper was given for all seniors and their dates and for special guests. As honored guests they enjoyed the company of the commencment speaker, Dr. J. LaVar Bateman and his charming wife. Bayles of Salt Lake. The smallest son of the Keith Rogers cut his head when hit by a falling rock and his parents returned him to their home for treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Kenion Harvey and family have arrived here to make their home. Mr. Harvey expects to teach this fall. He was raised in Blanding and is a son of Aaron Harvey. Welcome to our town, folks. Mr. James Walker who is employed by the sawmill drove to Globe, Ariz. , over the weekend to get his wife and children as they will make their home here. Mrs. Theressa Redd and girls of Provo spent the weekend visiting and taking care of (business matters. They were entertained by Rowena Winters and Florence Galbraith at a picnic at Devil's Canyon with Ed Galbraith, Myrtle Hunt, Craig and Allan Redd and the Truman Ribys as other guests. Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bronson entertained their family with a boating party at Lake Powell over the weekend. In addition to the hosts there were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bronson of Provo, Kathleen and Lisa Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Durfey and children. The Birthday Club members were entertained Friday night at the North City Park by Maggie Harvey and Josephine Bayles who had birthdays during the month of May. Supper was cooked over a fire by the hostesses. Special guests were Mrs. Theressa Redd, Waldo Harvey, Grant Bayles and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Young. The Youngs brought fresh strawberries from their garden in Colorado to top off the menu. Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Harvey had as houseguests over the weekend their sons, Lionel and Kenion, and their families Lionel and family returned to their home on Monday but the others remained to make their home. Ralph and Leona Bailey stopped off Sunday on their way home from Salt Lake City to visit relatives for a few lours.
