Show May 20 - A dog complaint at First South and First West. Acitizen complained about a juvenile driver speeding. The juvenile was located and warned. May 21 - Officer Kirby apprehended a runaway from the Blanding Boys Home. A dog complaint was received. May 22 - A parked vehicle belonging to George Hill, Monticello, received minor damage when another vehicle struck it and left without reporting the accident. The accident occurred at the Out West Cafe parking lot. A Garrett Truck hit a vehicle owned by Keith Redd in the Monticello Merc, parking lot. May 23 - Police assisted in taking an injured child to the hospital. May 24 - A dog complaint from Uranium Drive. The animal was taken to the pound. May 25 - A passerby reported an airplane was dropping things on cars on the highway. Chief of Police Rigby Wright located the plane and deter- mined that the complaint was unfounded. A dog complaint from Uranium Drive. The animal was impounded. May 27 - A dog complaint was received from a man who was bitten. The licensed dog has been tied up. During the week, Chief Wright and Officer Jack Kirby both attended the Utah Peace Officers convention in Moab for one day each. Chief Wright went to Salt Lake City last Wednesday to see about setting up schools for officers in the area. Scouts on hike On May 17 Scouts from the Monticello Second Ward Tenderfoot Class, under the guidance of Mr. and Mrs. 01-eHatch, went on a five mile hike. In addition to cooking their own food without the use of utensils the boys learned the art of building fires and extinguishing them. Thomas W. Hacking, son of Mrs. Gene Y. Hacking, Blanding has been promoted to airman first class in the U. S. Air Force. Airman Hacking, a printing specialist in a unit of the Strategic Air Command, is assigned to Barksdale AFB, La. A graduate of San Juan High School, he attended Snow College, Ephraim, Utah, and the University of Utah. The airman's wife, Barbara, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Devon Mikkelsen, Fountain Green, Utah. Mr. Chavis has high expectations that this program will give a more meaningful experience in Social Studies to the children of the area when it is introduced throughout all six grades of the elementary schools. 1 Mrs. Martin I appointed Idirector Mrs. Kenneth Miller, North Babylon, N.Y. r Mrs. Carole Seiber Martin, daughter of Mrs. Jess Leetham of Monticello, has been named the director of the Burley Neighborhood Center in Burley, Idaho, according to Agency Director Larry Mack of Twin Falls, Idaho. Mrs. Martin has been interes-- I ted in the Community Action Agency work for some time. She was elected president of the Twin Falls Community Action Agency committee but will relinquish this position to take the new job. Mr. Mack said plans and the approximate cost of the proposed Migrant Service Center in Twin Falls will be presented to the Agency board and if the board accepts the proposal the CAA will make an application with the Special Field Service, Washington, D. C. , for the funds. Mrs. Martin attended cello High School and has lived in Twin Falls, Idaho for some time with her two children, Guy and Danalee. She will move to Burley as soon as she can find housing. I MAVERICK 66 wanted a car and foreign cars are hard to fix. So my brother said Maverick was coming, and I waited.
