Merlin Grover, Salt Lake City is one of more than 600 students who will be candidates for advanced degrees at the annual Commencement, June 6, ? 969 at the University of Utah. Mr Grover, son of Mr. and Mis. Jess Grover, Blanding is a candidate for a Master of Social Work degree. Advanced work towards the degree included a thesis en" titled, "Juvenile Delinquency. A graduate of San Juan High School he received his Bachelor of Science degree from USU in 1964. He is married to the former Lou Ann Laws, Blanding and they are the parents of three children. Mr. Grover is presently employed by the Utah State . Division of Welfare and after graduation plans to work for San Juan County Public Welfare Department. Page Three Hero laid to rest Funeral services were held last Saturday in the Blanding LDS Chapel for Lyle C. Palmer who was killed in action in Vietnam on May 12. The casket was flown from Oakland, Cal. , to Salt Lake City, then transferred to a plane and flown to Blanding. The casket was accompanied by a fellow soldier, Spec. 5 Michael D. Langston of St. Louis, Mo. Bishop Curtis Jones conducted the services. The opening song was sung by three brothers of the. deceased and a cousin, Clem Washburn, gave the opening prayer. Nieces and nephews sang "I Am A Child for God" and an original verse composed by Lyle's mother was recited. Bruce P. Palmer and Ellis Palmer both sang solos, with Mrs. Mable June Palmer accompanying them, as well as providing music throughout the services. Mrs. Nadine Bayles gave the obituary for her brother. Speakers were James J. Harris, a cousin, Norman Nielson and Bishop Jones as well as Dr. Morgan Coombs, Lyle's mission president in Australia. Clint Palmer gave the closing prayer. Interment was in the Blanding Cemetery and William Palmer, father of the deceased, dedicated the grave. A dozen milat attention itary men stood salute. They r and gave a 21-gthen folded the American flag that covered the casket and presented' it to Lyle's parents. Pallbearers were William Ellis Palmer, Phillip L. Palmer, Don W. Palmer, Hans E. Bayles, Bruce P. Bayles and Gary D. Bayles. Coming from out of town for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Oldroyd, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ogles, Veloy Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Womock, Enoch R. Larsen, Mrs. Sally Washburn, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Washburn, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Washburn, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ballard, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Sunsion and, family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hunt, Mr. and Mrs.' Glen Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Ferrel C. Lazenby, Neta and Harold Young, Dr. and Mrs. Morgan Coombs, Beverly Wright, Vicky Mercer, Dale Black, Kelly Bayles, Jerry McLaws, Dale F.
