Show Tournament draws 135 The Fifth Annual Monticello Men's Bowling Association Tournament, held this past weekend, was considered a success even though a lot of bowlers have left the area. The 135 entrants rolled 405 lines of bowling. Some of the placing were not determined until the last 45 minutes before the end of the tourament Pictured are four groups of San Juan County citizens meeting time. The visitors had son for first place in the handi cap singles. Leading the 39 handicap singles entries, Milt Nielson racked up 647 pins for first place. Deloy Shumway was second with 646 and Lynn Adams third with 645. W. R. Bronson and Max Black battled out a 636 tie for fourth place. Shumway and Elmer Clauson bowled in the last hour and took first in the doubles beating Milt Nielson and A1 Haskins and John Mitchell and Max Black, all tied at 1230. Twenty-fo- ur teams reported for action in the handicap doubles. The team from Broderick Tire Service bowled their first team event but came up short of the first place spot. They decided to try a second time and edged out Elk Ridge Restaurant of Blanding who had a 2983. They ended up with a 2991 for first spot. All events first place went to Rod Rasmussen with a 1679 total rolling a singles of 563, doubles of 499 and a team series of 617. A1 Haskins took second with 1648. The scratch singles was taken by Haskins with a 589. He rolled this series on his first attempt and made it too rough for his followers , but one other bowler ventured forth mastering only 552 - Rod K ' . U. Butt drove to Mancos, Colo, last Wednesday to visit with Mrs. Butt's sister, Mrs. Ada Haller. Mrs. Haller was sick so Mrs. Butt stayed with her and returned home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Forrest and Ginger Dalton of Cedar City enjoyed a visit with their folks over the weekend, the Jimmy Forrests and Max Daltons. Word received from Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hansen states they are wintering in Mexico City. From there they took a trip to South America and did some exploring in the old Indian ruins. Most of all they are enjoying the sun. Mr, and Mrs. L. Robert Anderson made a hurried bus- F. Personnel of the Elementary School lunch program drove to Price Monday to attend a district meeting on preparing and serving meat for the school lunches. Those going were, Manager Donna Giles, Emma Freestone, Amy Me Donald, and Dale Collard. Last week Mr. Arlow Freestone attended the Utah State Hospital meetings in Salt Lake.' He then drove to Kimberly, Idaho to visit his mother, Mrs. Myrtly Freestone, and his brothers and sisters. Word received from former residents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bigler of Eager, Ariz. tells of the arrival of a baby son born to them recently.
