As for the wrestlers, the winners are jubilant as may be witnessed by looking at the face of Steve Ney. The losets had mixed emotions mirrored on their faces. It didn't tum out that way as Steve put a and a body press and pinned him in 52 seconds of the first round. Steve was in complete control In the championship match, except for the n i stake he made. He was wrestling Dee Ferguson of Crand High School. This is a man Steve has wrestled several times tills year, including during the Southern Region Six Tourney held in Moab. Steve pinned him in Moab for first place. Steve was leading 5 to nothing with very little time remaining in the match and was riding Ferguson. The game was held in Blanding and Coach Neldon Cochran had the boys ready and willing as they played a whale of a basketball game. Dale Black controlled the first tip and the Broncos were off and running as they jumped into an 8 to 0 lead and never relinquished it. This was Dale's most productive night for scoring, but even this was overshadowed by his brilliant rebounding and defensive play. Time after time he outfought and out jumped the Vikings to get crucial rebounds. He scored 13 of his 29 points on free throws, as he was deadly from the line. Lee Nielson played an outstanding game on defense as well as scoring 21 points. East Carbon's Howell, who leads the state in Class B scoring, with a 26 plus average, was held to 3 points in the first half. Although Howell ended the game with 20 points, most of them came when the Broncs were far ahead and they were relatively unimportant. Lee Nielson was the man guarding him. Lee King scored 12 points, most of them coming in the first half. Charles Fuentes had 9 and Larry Skinner 8 to complete the scoring for the regulars. Dennis Bradford came in during the fourth quarter and scored four points, 71 and after Black fouled out Wayne Beeson did a fine job replacing him, scoring 2 points. All the Broncos were hitting the backboards well with Lee King and Lee Nielson backing up Dale Black welL Most of Black's field goals came after getting an offensive rebound and on the many fouls committed against him. Nielson's total was mostly on 20 foot jump shots as he forced the Viking defense to open up the middle for Black and King. Larry Skinner seemed to be all over the floor as he did an excellent job on defense and bringing the ball up court. Charles Fuentes was quite effective under the boaids.
