This man, this week, is none other than Owood W. Lovell, Manager of Montlcello's Branch of the First Security Bank of Utah. i j ' Al-ber- ni, A discussion in the Monday meeting of the San Juan County Commission relative to the needs which exist in the Montezuma Creek area for medical, health, and dental care facilities leads us to recommend a planning pattern for this an other facilities that the County is now building or may plan to build in the future. This plan is to appoint a citizens' committee to study needs and to report to the County Commission in detail on the exact situation in any area. This plan was used, apparently with great effectiveness in regard to the addition to the County Court House. Similar thorough study has been given to the road program in the County through meetings held in various parts of the County with regard to the roads in the various areas. A subcommittee of the Master Plan Committee performed a similar function with regard to the major roads and highways in the area. This writer is in favor of increased medical facilities through out the County wherever they are feasible and wherever there is a sound plan for staffing the facility. But, as in many other areas, we urgently need facts and careful planning of all of our long range facilities. It should be pointed out that it is urgent that sound plans in concrete form be made for this particular project and its operation are urgently needed in order to proceed with it in an orderly manner while matching funds and skilled labor are available through cooperation with the Title V program. We feel that sound planning by public bodies can never ba emphasized to greatly in the operation of our government, at whatever level. We urge the establishment of a public body for the planning of this particular facility. Along with inspired skills, the making of a Bourbon like Beam requires an unusual combination of land, climate and natural materials. And its all here, in north central Kentucky. Theres the ancient, underlying limestone springs that supply sweet, clear water a vital ingredient in the making of fine Bourbon. The rich, fertile, surrounding valleys and plains provide the needed corn, rye and bar- 1795 wood, the fr also reads shorthand well and if the bank should fail he could probably get a Job as a secretary with his secretarial skills. For three years M. Lovell attended the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington In Seattle and spent two weeks each year finally graduating from that School. His thesif was entitled "What the Effect the National Park (Canyonlands) will have on the Economy of the Area" and when talking to him he said he felt that the growth of the community and county would come because of this Park and that it would ultimately rival the popularity of Yellowstone National Park. Mr. Lovell was high in his praise for the community, like most of the business men and said the thing he liked best about Monticello was the people. He says "I have the finest friends here and we thoroughly enjoy living here. " He hopes the community will ultimately improve with sidewalks and paving but states that the improvements that have been made since he arrived in Monticello are quite astounding. Mr. Lovell operates his bank in the efficient fashion he has operated his life thus far and he is a willing servant to those who seek the services of the bank. Truly, no community could survive without the sound financial advice of such a man and we are glad to salute Mr. Lovell as Such a man - our Business Profile of the week. meet friends of hers who will Scouting leaders from Carbon, inant icoutmaneis, troop committee members, neighEmery, Grand, and San Juan borhood commissioners, merit Counties will attend the badges counselors, patrol dads1 University of Scouting in the advisors and stake College of Eastern Utah, March decora four children of Ogden were leaders, in attendance announced was scouting by 2 nd, it weekend visitors at the home The Explorer leadership sectStephen Perry, District Scout of her parents, Mr. and Mis.
