Arthur Adair and Prock Mav, state brand Inspectors for the Monticello and Blanding areas, this week cautioned all cattle owners who are required to a brand inspection, to be certain they comply with the Revised Utah Brucellosis Regulation No. 33. This regulation provides that no breeding cattle can be sold unless they have been officially vaccinated as calves, have not yet reached 30 months of age, or are negative to the test for Brucellosis, except when a permit is obtained for feeding purposes. According to Alden K. Barten, commissioner of agriculture for the state of Utah, both testing and calf vaccination will be done without expense to the owner, either at the ranch, public stock yards, or auction markets. Clyde Johnson, Monticello, will make the tests and issue the certificates.
